Article summary

Introduction

This guide provides standard best practices to follow for Sanas app users. We’ve outlined these practices based on our internal testing and app users’ experiences to ensure that Sanas works seamlessly with your system.

Adhering to these best practices significantly enhances Sanas’s ability to deliver accurate voice processing and accent translation, ensuring clear and natural-sounding translation.

Microphone positioning

Proper microphone positioning is critical for Sanas's voice synthesis capabilities:

  1. Adjust headphone fit:

    • Set the headband length for a comfortable fit.

    • Use click-stop features (if available) to secure the desired length.

    • Avoid wearing headphones too tightly or too loosely, which can cause discomfort during extended calls.

  2. Position the microphone boom:

    • Use both hands to shape the microphone boom arm

    • Position the microphone approximately two finger-widths away from the corner of your mouth

    • Maintain this distance consistently during calls

  3. Avoid incorrect placement:

    • Do not place the microphone directly in front of your mouth

    • Keep the microphone away from underneath your nostrils

    • Prevent the microphone from making contact with your lips or face

Voice modulation techniques

For best results, follow these voice modulation practices:

  1. Maintain optimal speaking rate:

    • Speak at a moderate, natural pace

    • Speaking too quickly reduces clarity, while speaking too slowly may reduce engagement

    • Practice consistent pacing during conversations

  2. Articulate clearly:

    • Avoid mumbling or speaking indistinctly

    • Pronounce words completely and deliberately

    • Use natural pauses between sentences for better speech flow

  3. Understand accent translation:

    • Sanas translates accents but cannot correct mispronunciations

    • Example: Pronounce "vehicle" correctly as "vee-uh-kel," not "vy-kel"

    • Focus on correct pronunciation of words, not just accent

  4. Maintain appropriate volume:

    • Speak clearly and distinctly above background noise

    • Maintain consistent volume throughout the call

    • Avoid speaking too softly or too loudly

  5. Manage breathing:

    • Take breaths between sentences, not during them

    • Avoid heavy or breathy speech patterns

    • Maintain a steady breathing rhythm during conversations

Do's and Don'ts

Do's

Don'ts

Restart computer daily: Restart your computer daily to prevent performance issues

🚫 Never select Sanas as audio output: Do not select Sanas Speaker under audio output settings in your dialer or at system level

Verify app configuration: Always check that the app is enabled and the correct audio input is selected before starting

🚫 Avoid external webcam microphones: Do not use webcam microphones for audio input with Sanas; use your headset instead

Use high-quality headsets: Use only compatible headsets, preferably with USB connections rather than analog connections
Refer to Compatible hardware guide to check your headset compatibility.

🚫 Don't close Sanas during calls: Closing the Sanas app during an active call can disrupt voice synthesis

Speak naturally: Maintain a clear, natural speaking pace with proper pronunciation

🚫 Avoid poor speaking habits: Don't whisper, mumble, or speak excessively fast, as these behaviors reduce processing accuracy
