Introduction

This guide walks you through setting up and using Language Translation on the Sanas desktop application, so you can communicate smoothly with callers who speak a different language. It covers confirming your setup is ready, logging in, turning on Language Translation, selecting the languages you and your caller speak, previewing your translated voice, using live captions during calls, and sharing feedback on your experience.

Before You Begin

As an App User, make sure you have the following ready:

  1. The Sanas App is installed on your computer.

  2. Your login credentials are on hand (required if you're logging in via User Activation Key (UAK) and/or Email-Passcode authentication).

  3. Your wired USB headset is connected to your computer.

  4. A stable, working internet connection.

  5. If using Auto Activation authentication: your computer is connected to your organization's domain, and you're logged into your user profile.

Note: If any of the above items are missing or not working as expected, please contact your account admin for assistance.

Log In and Setup Your Sanas App

  1. Launch the Sanas app on your computer.

  2. Select the authentication mode available on the login page — User Activation Key (UAK), Email-Passcode, Auto Activation, or Single Sign-On, and refer to this guide on how to utilize them.

  3. After a successful authentication, you will be directed to the Language Translation panel.

If this is your first time using the Sanas App, a built-in onboarding guide will automatically appear to help you navigate the app. You can also revisit them should you wish to modify your Sanas app settings.

Language Translation App Users only need to complete the following steps:

    • Select your default microphone and speaker in the app

    • Configure the audio settings of your telephony or softphone

Configure Language Translation App Controls

By default, the Language Translation toggle is OFF, unless your account admins have enabled them in the Sanas Portal.

  1. To start using this Language Translation, turn the toggle ON.

  2. They Speak is for the language that your recipient speaks. Click the dropdown menu to select that language. This is usually pre-selected by your account admin in the Sanas portal.

  3. I Speak is for the language you are speaking. Click the dropdown menu and select that language. This is also typically pre-selected by your account admin in the Sanas Portal.

  4. The Show Caption toggle appears only when Language Translation is ON and is disabled by default. When enabled, it displays the Captions panel on the right, showing the caller’s and agent’s original languages along with their corresponding translations.

  5. Click the Hear Your Voice tab to hear how you sound with Language Translation enabled — you will only hear your translated speech. This is a great way to practice before taking calls and identify potential audio issues that may affect your call experience.

Note:

  1. Select Sanas Audio as the Microphone and Speaker in the Softphone/Telephony.

  2. If the configuration is correct and Show Caption is toggled ON, your speech and its corresponding translation will be displayed in the Captions panel.

Submit Feedback

Your feedback is critical and important for us to understand your experience using Sanas and help us improve. Submitting feedback takes less than a minute and can be done directly from the Sanas App.

Note: When should you submit feedback? Any time you have a notably good or bad experience on a call. How to do it? Refer to this guide.
